ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – As COVID-19 cases drop and spring break arrives, some Stateline families pack their bags for a much needed vacation.
“We went to the Bahamas on a four day cruise,” said Joslyn Huntsman.
Huntsman’s family needed to be fully vaccinated before boarding their ship and masks were a must in indoor spaces. But she says that didn’t deter their fun.
“It was really not very different at all. Felt very safe,” Huntsman said.
Local travel agents happily report a boom in business whether it’s a family adventure or a couple’s romantic getaway.
“Even this coming fall we have a huge increase of demand in sales in clients wanting just to travel the world and get back out and see what they’ve been missing at all those resorts,” said Megan Johnson with Sterling Expeditions.
Johnson says using a travel agent is your best bet. They can help with any hiccups along the way, even if you test positive for COVID-19.
“We focus on the changing of flights, what’s your resorts policy, how are we going to keep you safe and your family safe to get you back to the states,” Johnson said.
Huntsman says her best advice to wanna-be travelers, do it now.
“I think just kind of getting away and escaping and investing in yourself some self care I think that really important. I was ready to plan the next cruise before we were even all the way home,” Huntsman said.
Sterling Expeditions recommends if you’re considering booking a trip, do it as soon as possible because most hotels are filling up months in advance.
