OGDEN — Coming soon — the lineup for the 2022 installment of Ogden Twilight, the summer music series held at the Ogden Amphitheater.
Organizers teased in a Facebook post on Wednesday that the dates of the planned shows and nine of 10 headliners were to be announced within 10 days or so. They didn’t offer any clues about possible performers except to say that the Flaming Lips, who took part in prior Twilight series, wouldn’t be coming because they already have a show booked for April 26 in Salt Lake City.
That said, the post said the supportive showing by fans to the artists last year aided in recruiting performers this go-round.
“The energy at every show was amazing. Thank you all for the massive support and showing the artists so much love. It makes booking this series easier and easier each year. This crowd has built a great reputation,” said the post.
The COVID-19 pandemic last year prompted some performers to require proof of vaccination or a negative test for the virus among fans. So far, no COVID-19-inspired restrictions are contemplated, organizers said in response to a query in the Facebook feed. However, the post continued, “if another crazy surge or new strain comes up and health departments or artists are making requests we’ll have to comply with those requests.”
Season passes and individual tickets are modestly priced for Twilight shows, and some buyers apparently scalped tickets at markups of hundreds of dollars in some cases. “We built this series to be an affordable community building experience and we don’t like seeing these things happening,” said the post.
As such, new measures have been implemented via the 24tix.com platform to prevent that sort of thing.
Tickets will cost “a little more,” Ogden Twilight said, though organizers still regard the series as affordable. “Again, our goal is to make world-class live music available and affordable for everyone in the community. This may be the best deal going in live music today. We wanted to try and blow you away again and it took a bigger budget this year,” said the post.
Twilight tickets and passes typically sell quickly once they go on sale. “Stay tuned over the next 10 days and be ready to jump on passes when you see the lineup,” reads the Facebook post.
