‘Microbusinesses’ eligible for grants
Grants of $2,500 are now available to “microbusinesses” around San Diego County that were hurt by COVID-19. The County Board of Supervisors has approved making 1,550 grants totaling $3.8 million, funded in part by the California Office of the Small Business Advocate. They are aimed at small businesses such as those operated from home like pet sitters, shoppers, cleaners and home health care workers, and sidewalk vendors such as food cart operators. All Veterans Job Fair set for Thursday
The Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary will co-host a San Diego All Veterans Job Fair from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Scottish Rite Event Center, 1895 Camino del Rio South, San Diego. The event is free to veterans, their spouses, active-duty military personnel and members of the National Guard and Reserve. More than 20 employers will be on-site representing industries from construction to medical to administrative and logistics. Veterans can also access free career counseling, employment and resume assistance, network with fellow vets and military personnel, and get help with their Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and claims. Host a lab tech intern at no cost to company
Advancing San Diego is seeking applicants from small life-sciences companies (under 100 employees) to host students for 240-hour internships at no cost to the company. Companies will review résumés and select students based on the company’s need. Students will have completed various levels of training and will be capable of doing routine lab processes, assisting in experiments, and doing general administrative and documentation work. Advancing San Diego is the employer-led talent development program of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation and its partners.
