AUGUSTA, Ga. — The two best golfers in the world this year will square off with a green jacket on the line Sunday at the 2022 Masters. Scottie Scheffler, the 36- and 54-hole leader, has seen his advantage narrow but will nevertheless enter the final round at Augusta National three strokes ahead of Cameron Smith. One of the two will almost assuredly end the day being crowned on the 18th green with a $2.7 million check finding its way into their back account.
Scheffler, who took a five-stroke lead entering Round 3, saw that advantage cut in half as Smith posted the round of the day, a 4-under 68. Though Scheffler has been far more consistent this week, the No. 1 player in the world will have to battle down the stretch. Given 26 of the last 31 green jacket winners have come from the final pairing in Round 4, there’s a far better than not chance one of these two will be named Masters champion on Sunday afternoon.
As far as Tiger Woods, a gutty and impressive effort over the first two days led to the five-time Masters winner making the cut for the 22nd consecutive tournament at Augusta National. However, Tiger followed that up with the worst round of his career here, a 6-over 78 that saw him plummet out of contention. His goal on Sunday? Get back to even for the Masters.

Still very early here on Sunday — obviously — but the course is playing (by far!) much easier than it has the rest of the week. First nine actually playing below par. Could be some low numbers out there this week which could — COULD — give us a fun finish today. Can anyone catch Scottie?

Tiger makes the turn at 2 over
Pretty good start, awful middle, just-OK finish to Tiger Woods’ first nine here in Round 4 at the Masters. With three bogeys and a birdie he makes the turn at 2 over on the day and 9 over on the week. Woods is noticeably favoring the leg — and using a club as a cane — but he’s still hitting some good shots today and battling despite not being anywhere close right now to 100%.

Jon Rahm rebounding early in Round 4
The former World No. 1 (and now World No. 2) had a 5-over 77 on Saturday — his worst round of the week — but has already looked much, much better today. Playing next to Tiger Woods, he’s birdied three of his last six holes and is 2 under on the round thus far.

This is maybe the funniest thing you’ll see all day. Validation that JT is absolutely, positively one of us. The “yep, that happened” nod is just incredible.

Tiger with best start to a round all week
After posting his worst round ever at Augusta National on Saturday, Tiger Woods is (of course) off to the best start of the week here on Sunday with an opening par-birdie-par on Nos. 1-3. Really challenging stretch on deck here, though. He’s played holes 4-7 this week at 3 over.

Tiger Woods set to tee off for Round 4 in just a few minutes alongside Jon Rahm. Looks as if he’ll again be doing so with a hitch in his giddy-up. He was favoring the leg quite a bit by the end of Round 3, too, and turned in a week-worst six-over 78, so let’s hope he’s able to gut it out and finish strong. Very, very fun pairing next to Rahm today with two of the most talented golfers on tour playing alongside each other.

Get prepared for the final round of the 2022 Masters with this fantastic drone tour down Magnolia Lane and through the Augusta National clubhouse. A green jacket will be awarded Sunday — likely to one of the season’s two best golfers — and the weather has warmed up, which should result in lower scores as the day progresses.
