A 15-year-old was transported to Intermountain Medical Center with life-threatening injuries after a crash on northbound Interstate 15 Saturday.
Officials said the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. when traffic began to slow at 5500 South on I-15.
While vehicles began to slow due to traffic congestion, a Mazda CX-5 hit the back of the Mazda 3 in a rear-end crash.

The Mazda 3 then spun counterclockwise and hit the rear of a Honda Civic.
In the Mazda 3, officials said there were three brothers. The front passenger and driver suffered minor injuries. The backseat passenger was the 15-year-old boy who was transported to the hospital.
Officials said neither driver of the other cars sustained any injuries, and distracted driving is being investigated as a possible cause for the crash.
